PRIDE MOBILITY AND SEMA UNVEIL CUSTOMIZED SCOOTER BY CAR DESIGNER CHIP FOOSE
Exeter, PA - November 8, 2012 - Pride Mobility Products® Corporation, along with the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), is pleased to announce the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind mobility scooter customized by iconic car designer Chip Foose. The scooter, a Victory® ES 10, was unveiled on November 1 at the 2012 SEMA Show Hot Rod Hall of Fame Luncheon in Las Vegas, NV.
The Specialty Equipment Market Association consists of a diverse group of manufacturers, distributors, retailers, publishing companies, auto restorers, street rod builders, restylers, car clubs, race teams, and more. SEMA members make, buy, sell, and use specialty parts and accessories to make vehicles more attractive, unique, convenient, faster, safer, fun, and even like-new again.
"SEMA, its partner, Motor Media, Inc., and Chip Foose approached us last spring, wanting to create something truly special for the legends within the Hot Rod Hall of Fame who now use mobility scooters," explained Mark E. Smith, Consumer Research Manger for Pride Mobility. "We're all about both living your best and finding liberation through mobility products, so working with SEMA and Chip on such a positive, cool project was exciting from the first call."
Foose, best known for his television show, Overhaulin', personally drew up the "hot rod" modifications to a production Victory ES 10 scooter, and went to work, adding a roadster grill, pin-stripping, and color-keyed upholstery, tying in a vintage look.
"We wanted to keep the scooter practical and totally functional, but still give Chip full reign," said Joe Sebergandio of Motor Media Inc., and the host of the annual SEMA Show. "And, it's all his design. The inductees were blown away. Many of our members rely on scooters, and when they saw that Chip had customized one for them, they literally had tears in their eyes. It really is about putting pride in these icons' mobility."
The Hall of Fame members each took time to personally autograph the scooter, with legendary names written in black on the red shrouding.
"We just really want to thank Pride for its contribution to our Hall of Fame members," said
Christopher J. Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. "Pride and Chip made a great team to support our Hall of Fame members with this awesome project."
