There are many other potential sources of funding for assistive technology devices, including:
- Americans with Disabilities Act
- for persons whose employers must comply with a need for reasonable accommodations in their workplace. (See 29CFR Part 1630 and Sections 190 and 44 of the Internal Revenue Code)(iii)
- Charitable Organizations - will vary state by state. Contact your local Lions Club, Rotary, specific associations dedicated to various illnesses (Muscular Dystrophy Society, etc.) and local churches.
- Crime Victims Compensation Board - for victims of violent crime.
- Medicare - for persons receiving Social Security disability or retirement benefits.
- SSI's Plan for Achieving Self Support (PASS) - for persons who develop a written plan to voluntarily set aside money from other sources to reach a work or education goal.
- Veteran's Administration - for persons deemed eligible through participation in military service.
- Worker's Compensation - for persons who sustained injuries while on the job.
Your state’s low interest loan fund (usually administered by the Department of Human Services.) |
